Remember How E! Online Totally Stole Beet’s Idea?
E! Online came up with the completely unoriginal idea to conduct a poll to see if they should ban news stories regarding a certain couple from their website. Beet made that call last year, but whatever.
Anyway, the poll results are in and a resounding 94% voted in favor of no more news about them. Of course, network executive Suzanne Kolb isn’t willing to draw the line at not reporting about them unless they die. “If her album went to No. 1, that would be a newsworthy thing. If they were to become parents, we’d see that as worth noting. If something did happen to them, physically, we’d probably cover that. But ultimately, we were looking at it more like avoiding stories about them walking down Robertson or going to dinner. It will affect the various news shows on E! and it will affect online.”
Okay, this is starting to feel like a real movement. Who can we petition next to join the Anti-Speidi Coalition?

First picture of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland
USA Today has the first photos of the characters in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, due out March, 2010, and they look fantastic. Johnny Depp wears a red curly wig, goofy expression and top hat as the Mad Hatter while Helena Bonham carter is a haughty, cruel Red Queen of Hearts. Anne Hathaway plays The White Queen in a long blonde wig and full red lips. USA Today also has scrollable large pictures of the concept art from the film, but no photos of the young woman who plays Alice, a 19 year-old Australian actress, Mia Wasikowska, from HBO’s In Treatment:
You might have gone down the rabbit hole before. But never with a guide quite as attuned to the fantastic as Tim Burton.
Those who have grown curiouser and curiouser about what the offbeat reinventor of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory might conjure up in his version of Alice in Wonderland can feast their eyes on this array of concept art and publicity images, due to hang in movie theaters this week to promote the March 5, 2010, release.
“It has been Burton-ized” is how producer Richard Zanuck describes the director’s vision of the Lewis Carroll classic. Many elements are familiar, from the enigmatic Caterpillar (Alan Rickman) to the fierce Jabberwock (Christopher Lee). But none has been presented in this sort of visually surreal fashion.
“We finished shooting in December after only 40 days,” Zanuck says. Now the live action is being merged with CG animation and motion-capture creatures, and then transferred into 3-D.
The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn’t remember.
Among those who welcome her back is the Mad Hatter, a part tailor-made for Johnny Depp as he collaborates with Burton for the seventh time. “This character is off his rocker,” Zanuck says.
Aussie actress Mia Wasikowska, 19, best known for HBO’s In Treatment, has the coveted title role. “There is something real, honest and sincere about her,” Zanuck says. “She’s not a typical Hollywood starlet.”
There is the usual Burton-esque ghoulishness (Helena Bonham Carter’s Red Queen, whose favorite retort is “Off with their heads,” has a moat filled with bobbing noggins), but Zanuck assures most kids can handle it. “The book itself is pretty dark,” he notes. “This is for little people and people who read it when they were little 50 years ago.”
[From USA Today]
I thought the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory remake fell a little flat, but Sweeney Todd was incredible, due in no small part to the excellent storyline that Burton was working with. It was too gory for my taste though. I love that the producer assures us that it’s appropriate for little kids and won’t be too violent or scary. This movie is likely to be a hit across the board.

Jane Fonda Blogs About Her Surgery
Jane Fonda blogged and tweeted about undergoing knee-replacement surgery on Tuesday -- all with her good humor and wit! In a blog entry titled “So Long Old Knee,” authored the morning of her operation, Fonda admitted, “I am growing fond of this left knee now that I have to say goodbye. It’s been a strong, faithful knee. “It’s gotten me up a lot of steep mountains and across rugged terrain,” she continued. “For years I ran on it and skied. I am remembering the girlhood scabs from falls off my bike. The splinters and bruises. The kisses too.” The star said her knee will be replaced with a titanium rod and ceramic joint, and doctors told her to expect back about 80 percent of her full range-of-motion. “Wanna bet? I have those Himalayan hills to trek in a year and a half…,” she added. Minutes before undergoing the surgery, Fonda even tweeted: “Lying on gurney. Drugs just starting to hit. Wheeee. So long left knee. You're toast!”

With age one’s priorities change. Thus is the case of Victoria Beckham who reportedly decided to have a breast reduction. The 35-year-old went under the knife to reduce the size of her Double D implants because they didn’t fit the look and image her new role as an upmarket fashion designer and mom of three.
The former Spice Girl saw a Los Angeles surgeon for her third boob job last month (starting at 34A to 34D to 34 DD) and had the DD set of implants removed to make her a smaller 34B. Victoria is now recovering in France with her soccer star husband David Beckham and their sons — Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, 6, and Cruz, 4.
“Victoria has wanted her implants taken out for a while,” a source told British newspaper The Sun. “She felt that was part of her old WAG image — the big hair, big boobs, fake tan — and that she has moved on since those days.
“She had the op three weeks ago and is very pleased with the results. After the op she came to London for business then went to France to heal properly in private.”

Neighbor sues over Rihanna’s LA house
A man claims in a lawsuit that Rihanna isn’t being a good neighbor.
Christian Moeller on Tuesday sued the 21-year-old pop singer and Stephen Yacobian, who owns the house she rents in Los Angeles. Moeller’s lawsuit claims cars routinely park or wait on his property, including cars used by Rihanna.
Moeller also claims a security camera installed at the home in the Hollywood Hills points onto his property.
An e-mail sent to Rihanna’s publicist was not immediately returned. Yacobian says the lawsuit is “without merit” but wouldn’t comment further until he speaks to his attorney.
Moeller is seeking unspecified damages for trespass, invasion of privacy and other claims.

The brother of actress Mia Farrow has been found dead in his art gallery, and police said Tuesday his death is suspicious.
Sculptor Patrick Farrow, 66, was found late Monday by police responding to an emergency call from the Farrow Gallery in Castleton, a small town near the New York border. A woman there had called asking for help.
An autopsy was planned to determine the cause of Farrow’s death. Police said they wouldn’t release additional information until it was complete.
State police Lt. Timothy Oliver called Farrow’s death suspicious in a written statement Tuesday. Oliver, who didn’t respond to telephone calls on the case, told WPTZ-TV that police don’t suspect foul play, but he said there were some things out of the ordinary at the scene; he didn’t elaborate.
Farrow, a professional sculptor for more than 35 years, operated out of a converted church building. The Farrow Gallery sells jewelry and mixed-media works of art, according to its Web site. The gallery is owned and operated by Farrow and his wife, artist Susan Farrow.
Mia Farrow, whose movies include “Rosemary’s Baby,” “Hannah and Her Sisters” and “Crimes and Misdemeanors,” is the former longtime companion of director Woody Allen. Their relationship ended in scandal and New York tabloid headlines in 1992, when she found out he was having an affair with her adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn, then 22.
Farrow is the daughter of director John Farrow and actress Maureen O’Sullivan.
David Schilling, an assistant to Mia Farrow’s manager, Laura Berwick, said late Tuesday he had just heard of Patrick Farrow’s death. He had no immediate comment on it.
Last year, a nephew of Mia Farrow and Patrick Farrow who had spent nearly 20 years in the Army was killed in Iraq.
Sgt. 1st Class Jason F. Dene, 37, died of injuries suffered in an incident in Baghdad, according to the Department of Defense, which gave no other details about his death except to say it was under investigation.
Patrick Farrow told The Associated Press after his nephew’s May 25, 2008, death he felt as though he had been “kicked in the stomach.”
“I’ve been opposed to this war since the beginning,” Farrow said then. “This lying Bush administration has gotten into this thing that has now killed my nephew. It’s up close and personal, and I am deeply angry.”

Source: The Evil Beet RSS FeedJennifer Lopez Works While Her Baby Boy Walks
Jennifer Lopez continued work this week on the Pasadena, CA set of her new film The Back-Up Plan which went into production in mid-May. In between takes, J. Lo chilled on set letting the nanny take care of her 1 year old son Maximilian David Muñiz elsewhere (for some reason, Max’s twin sister Emme Marbiel Muñiz was not on set) … as you can see, little Max is already walking:
Jennifer Lopez always rolled with a huge entourage, but it’s grown a little bigger. As well as her usual team of bodyguards, make-up artists and stylists, the star took her son Max along to the Los Angeles set of The Back-Up Plan as she began work on her first movie project in three years. The toddler, who was dressed in sneakers, turned-up jeans, a studded belt and hooded jumper, was looked after by a nanny as the singer and actress shot scenes for the romantic comedy The film centres woman who conceives twins through artificial insemination, only to meet the man of her Mr Right the same day. The 39-year-old, who gave birth to Max and twin Emme in February last year, says she delights in combining work with motherhood. “I bring the babies to work with me. I love it,” she says. “Honestly, one of the best days of my life was the first day back working on this film - I wanted to do this film really badly - and bringing my babies with me that morning. I was like, ‘Oh my God, they’re with me, I’m making a movie, they’re here!’ It’s great having kids on set. It’s the best.” Jennifer, who is married to singer Marc Antony, is also working on her next album, which will be the first since 2007’s Brave. “I worked on music while I was pregnant and while I was at home, but now to really get into it and focus on it and to finish the project is exciting,’ she says, adding that the children have had a large influence over her music. You can’t help but put not only your kids into it, but to put anything you are going through in your music. That’s the only thing you can really sing or write is stuff that you know. The more music you make and the more that you get into it and the more you write, the more you realise that’s all you can write.” Jennifer has a a number of other film projects in the pipeline, including the action thriller Double Or Nothing.
Man … weren’t these babies just born? I realize they turned 1 back in February but it really does seem like they were born just yesterday. Now, they’re walking (well, we can assume that Emme is walking too). This little one is really cute … but I cannot tell if he looks more like his mother or his father. One hopes that both children will grow up with strong resemblances of their mother. Max is a little cutie, ain’t he?

Combi Helio Stroller: A Compact Fold For Easy Carrying
Combi’s Helio Stroller ($150) is a lightweight, compact and useful stroller for anyone who has to carry their wheels onto a train, into the car or onto an airplane.
I love the Carbon fashion that we tested — it has a cute, polka-dot design in gray and black.
Assembly and Fold
The Helio assembled in no time with easy-to-understand instructions. Just snap on the wheels, the sun shade and the toddler bar.
The fold is unusual on the helio. It folds forward first, then the sides fold in, making it extremely compact. It’d be ideal for a small car’s trunk and we carried it easily onto a commuter train and stashed it in the storage bin. A wide shoulder strap makes it easy to carry when folded and really does not get in the way when you’re pushing.
Storage
Compact size often comes with drawbacks and for the Helio, this means that the basket is sacrificed. The basket is cut by a horizontal bar that’s part of the frame. It made it too small to fit my large diaper bag inside the basket but you can slide smaller items underneath easily. It has a parent organizer with several pockets for sunglasses or mobile phones and a cup holder and snack bowl for the passenger.
Seat and Recline
The fabrics are washable, wipeable, ripstop nylon and nylon mesh and the seat is well-padded. It reclines with a strap to infinite positions including fully reclined. The 5-point safety harness is easy to work. Of course the seat is compatible with the Combi Shuttle infant car seat.
Ride and Maneuverability
With no suspension, hard plastic tires and a very lightweight frame, the ride isn’t anything to sing about, but it isn’t horrible, either. Cushy tires and suspension and such just add to the weight and price of models like this one. It also has a bit of flex in the frame, which I don’t love, when you’ve rocked back onto the back wheels to go up a curb or step. The cushiness of the seat and the high side panels on the cushion make the seat seem pretty comfy, so 1-year-old Egan slept through all the obstacles without issue. Separate locks secure each of the pairs of back wheels and the front wheels can swivel or lock straight.
Sun Coverage
The sun shade on the Helio isn’t big enough for me. If I had to choose one improvement, it would probably be that. It does have a mesh window for peeking in on the baby without slowing down.
Pros: Lightweight and compact fold with a nice shoulder strap for carrying. It’s compatible with the Combi Shuttle car seat.
Cons: Hard tires and no suspension keep the stroller light, but you’ll feel the bumps in the road. I wish the sun shade was 50% bigger for more coverage.
The Final Verdict: If I’ve learned anything, it’s that you don’t get a Rolls Royce ride for $150, but this stroller offers a decent ride plus cup holders, hidey holes for my stuff and snack compartments for the kids. I would recommend it for travelers or those who have to fit their stroller in the trunk of a small car.

Miley Cyrus Denies Hanging Up On Radio DJs In Florida
Miley Cyrus is denying that she abruptly end a telephone interview with a morning radio show in Florida on Friday after the DJ quizzed her about the controversial comments recently made about her by Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx.
The Ray star was forced to issue a public apology to The Cyrus Family in April after joking the 16 year old should “make a sex tape… do some heroin… and become a lesbian” on his satellite radio show.
The Foxx Affair was listed as one of the questions interviewers were banned from asking the teen star about.
Nonetheless, Miley denies she hung the phone MJ broached the subject to ask if she had ever received a personal apology from Jamie — chalking the incident to time constraints.
Writing on her Twitter.com page, Miley explained: “There’s a little drama (of course the world loves it) because apparently I “hung up” on a radio station today and I hate to say that’s not true. I (have) a specific time limit and schedules are set up for specific time frames for each station… If a station goes over time I am IMMEDIATELY connected to the next station. YES, I am sorry if anyone thought I ‘hung up” on them. The peeps at the radio stations r friends, we know each other well and have a great relationship. I’m sorry if anything was miscommunicated, taken out of context, or misunderstood.”

Simon Cowell, Timbaland and Zac Efron to Ruin More Lives: Together!
Think of a collection of the worst people imaginable - they would be arrogant, stupid, irritating and thoroughly pointless. The kind of people you get writing for hecklerspray, for example.
Now imagine that collection is coming together in order to remake a movie that - as with most old movies - needs no remake and you’re left with the situation we have today.
For you see, Simon Cowell and Timbaland are rumoured to have joined forces to create a remake of Saturday Night Fever. Starring Zac Efron.
For proof there is no such thing as god, see the above short paragraph.
A remake is one thing - it takes the setting of the original, reworks it usually in a daft way, misses the point of the first film and then craps out an unrecognisable lump of cud where once stood a thoroughly recognisable lump of cud.
A remake of a film where the soundtrack is the most celebrated aspect of it is another thing altogether, especially when someone like Timbaland is on-board to re-jig the whole thing. Yes, the man seems capable of making anything a hit, but that’s because he makes the music he is involved with incredibly devoid of substance, vapid and generally appealing to the lowest common denominator through sheer weight of simplicity.
Actually, that sounds pretty much like the Bee Gees, only less terrifying and high-pitched. In other words; it’s a great idea - go for it!
Simon Cowell, on the other hand, won’t be involved to flex his creative muscles - even if they are just as withered as Timbaland’s. No, the high-panted king of Television For Morons is sure to be involved for far more benevolent reasons. Namely: the fact that it will make him at least four shitloads of money.
Why do we know this? Because it will apparently have everybody’s favourite “less character than an actual Action Man doll” actor Zac Efron fronting the new Saturday Night Fever.
That’s a manchild second only to Robert Pattinson in the ‘making little girls and spinsters part with their cash’ stakes, so it’s yet another licence to print moolah for Cowell and co.
A source told The Sun newspaper:
“Simon has been looking into buying the rights for years and opened discussions with Robert about the remake.
“The charm offensive has been in full swing and they made a breakthrough over the last couple of weeks.”
No one knows when the film will be out, who else will be in it or how much of a direct rip-off of Step Up 2: The Streets it will be. Though hecklerspray hopes it will be a massive rip-off of the aformentioned classic of cinema.
We really need to get into this “making stuff to get a lot of money” business. It seems easy enough.

SourceLiam Neeson and Bradley Cooper In The A-Team
Liam Neeson (Taken) is in talks to star as Col. John “Hannibal” Smith in 20th Century Fox’s big screen adaptation of the “The A-Team” TV series. Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) is also in early talks to play Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck for the film.
Joe Carnahan (Smokin’ Aces) will direct the film. Carnahan and Brian Bloom refined a script by Skip Woods (G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra, Wolverine).
The story keeps the premise of the classic 80’s series but will take a more serious tone with the story of four war vets wrongly convicted of armed robbery escape from a military prison to become mercenaries helping the impoverished.
With the casting confirmation of the two characters, there are only two major roles left to be filled, Capt. “Howling Mad” Murdock and Sgt. “B.A.” Baracus. The B.A. part has previously been linked to Hip-Hop artist-turned-actor Common, but no official announcement has been made for the speculation.
The film begins shooting this August with Tony and Ridley Scott brothers producing.
“The A-Team” will hit theaters June 11, 2010.
